Axeda eMessage Agents may be configured with File Hints (File Watcher component). These hints provide information to the target platform about the disposition of the uploaded files and are available for the duration of the file transfer. When an eMessage agent uploads a file as a result of the File Watcher detecting a change and a File Hint is defined for that File Watcher, the TransferJobEvent that is generated at the end of the file transfer contains the name of the file with the hint. If the state of the transfer is validated, the file is available to use.

File hints may also show that a file is a DependencyRegistry type of file, which is used for asset configuration at the Axeda Platform. For information on how the DependencyRegistry file hint is processed, refer to How eMessage Connector Handles Dependencies.xml Files.
