Upgrading ThingWorx Navigate

Before you begin

Before you upgrade to ThingWorx Navigate 8.5, complete the following steps:

1. Make sure that your current ThingWorx Navigate is up and running. We also recommend that you take note of your tailoring settings, and check if you see changes after you complete the upgrade.

2. Confirm that the connection between Windchill and ThingWorx Navigate works.

If you have customized your ThingWorx Navigate using the out-of-the-box ThingWorx Navigate services, we recommend that you verify if any of these services have been modified in the new version of ThingWorx Navigate. For more information, see Compare Versions of ThingWorx Navigate.

If you are upgrading to ThingWorx Navigate 8.5 with a Single Sign-on (SSO) authentication, back up your sso-settings.json file before you upgrade. This will help you provide inputs for SSO configuration.

Identify the supported upgrade paths

When upgrading your ThingWorx Navigate server, we recommend upgrading to the latest available release. PTC only supports upgrade to the latest available release when upgrading a major (X.n.n) or minor (n.X.n) version of your ThingWorx Navigate server.

Download the files for ThingWorx Navigate upgrade

During the upgrade you need to import extensions and other related files, which are all found in ThingWorx-Navigate-Release-<version>.zip.

1. From the PTC Software Download page, select PTC SMART CONNECTED APPLICATIONS.

2. Expand Release APPs, ThingWorx Navigate 8.5, and Most Recent Datecode.

3. Download ThingWorx-Navigate-Release-<version>, and extract it.
