To Insert a Symbol or a Built-In Constant
1. In a worksheet, click the place where you want to insert a symbol or a built-in constant.
2. On the Math tab, in the Operators and Symbols group, you can select one of the following lists:
Symbols—Greek or Hebrew letters, math or monetary symbols, or tags. You can type Greek letters by using the Roman character followed by Ctrl+G.
Constants—Math or physics constants.
Additional Information
Symbols are used to define variable or function names.
Built-in constants correspond to specific values. To see the value of a built-in constant, insert the constant in a math region followed by the evaluation operator, =. The value of the constant appears with the appropriate units.
