Creating Promotion Policy
Give careful consideration to your promotion states before you enter them.
*
You should always enter the whole range of your promotion states in one pass and in sequence, from the starting state to the final state (separated by a space between each state name). State names may not contain spaces within the name. For example, if the state name is entered as QA Test, this is read as two separate states. A correct syntax for this name would be QATest or QAtest.
In our example, the administrator enters the following promotion states:
Development
Testing
Production
Release
In our example, promotion is mandatory at the Explorer site. Once done, the promotion policy is in place for all development objects at the Explorer site. From now on, users can assign these three promotion states to objects. The next step is to put controls in place to regulate who can assign promotion states and under which circumstances.
