The document edit icon signifies content that has and can continue to be edited.

Dotted highlight around content row
|
The color of the dotted highlight around the row indicates the action that has been performed:
• Red indicates that the row has been cut.
• Blue indicates that the row has been copied.
These colors can be customized by selecting
> > from the Document view. |
Content is in the process of being saved. During single-row editing, a modified row is saved when you select a different context within the Document view. During multiple-row editing, modified rows are not saved until you manually save them. In either edit mode, a new virtual row is inserted, but this blank row is not saved.

New
|
A virtual row appears as the first content item in a new document. As you add content to this item, a new virtual row is inserted. The new row retains the category of the previous row. When you select the new row, a section number is assigned. During single-row editing, your changes remain unsaved until you insert additional content or select another section of the document. During multiple-row editing, your changes remain unsaved until you manually save them. For more information, see Using Multiple-Row Editing.

Document messages
|
Popup messages can be configured to indicate if mandatory fields are required. They can also be configured to notify you when you enter a subdocument as you move through a document in the Content pane. To configure these messages and others, you select
> > from the Document view. |

During single-row editing, changes to a row are saved to the server as soon as you leave the row. During multiple-row editing, you decide when you want to save changes to the server. Until these changes are saved, you can undo and redo them. For more information, see Undoing and Redoing Field Edits During Multiple-Row Editing.

Change field selections using arrow keys:
• Left arrow moves the field selection to the previous field in the same row.

Save changes to a content row or item
|
During single-row editing, inline field changes are saved automatically when you select a field in another content row in the Document pane. During multiple-row editing, you decide when you want to save field changes. To manually save field changes in either edit mode, or to save changes made in the Item Detail pane, press CTRL+S or select > . Using this method during multiple-row editing saves unsaved changes to all edited rows.A document edit icon appears in the view title bar when there are unsaved changes to an item in the view. |
