Find and open a document
Select one of the following:
Document > Open
File > Open > Document
The Finder dialog box displays, allowing you to select an existing item. If desired, you can filter by visible text or fields and search on a document ID. For more information, see Document Finder.
Select Document > Recent or File > Recent > Document. A side menu of the most recent documents you have viewed displays. Select the one you want to view in the Document view.
View documents by query
In the Items view, select a query that returns documents or document content and select Item > View Items. The list of documents or content opens in the Items view. Document and content items can also be listed as individual items when listed as output from any query in the Items view.
*
To prevent performance issues, PTC recommends you do not filter on Document ID in a query.
Open a document from the Items view
Select a document item from the Items view, and then select one of the following:
Document > View
File > Open > Selected
The document opens in the Document view.
View a document as of a specific date and or label/revision, branch, or user edit
Select the document from the Items view and select Document > Historical > View As Of. The View Document As Of dialog box displays allowing you to view the document as of a specific date, label, branch, or edit (significant user modification of document properties item). You can use the same menu options to view a document historically when called from an open document in the document view.
To view the document properties item historically, select the document item you want to view in the Items view, and select Item > Historical > View Item Details As Of. The View Item As Of dialog box displays allowing you to view the document properties item as of a specific date, label, branch, or edit. After making your selection, the item displays in the Item Details view.
View a document by document ID
In the Document ID field, type the document ID, for example, 184.
If document versioning is enabled, you can also view versioned documents. To type the ID of a versioned document, use the format Live Item ID-major.minor, for example, 184-1.2.
*
Visibility of the Document ID field requires the Viewset has the action Go To Document enabled.
View a historical document or node item as of a specific version date and time
Select a date hyperlink for a created version in the History tab of an Item Details view to see the document or node item as of that date.
The historical view of a versioned item includes a title and header that indicate the version, and the date and time at which you are viewing the item. For more information about viewing historical items, see Viewing a Historical Item.
