  1. PROFILE OF A SURFACE TOLERANCING ALLOWS
THE PROFILE TO BE DEFINED BY BASIC DIMENSIONS, FORMULAS, OR UNDIMENSIONED DRAWINGS

PROFILE OF A SURFACE:
The conditon of a surface in which the profile is specified by a uniform amount of variation from it's nominal location.

PROFILE OF A SURFACE TOLERANCE ZONE:
Defined by a uniform three dimensional zone limited by two surfaces that are separated by the tolerance distance, as measured normal to the nominal geometry, at all locations across the surface. By default the tolerance zone is bilateral with the nominal geometry but can be specified as unilateral or unequally disposed if desired.
