About Alternate Part Names
The automated names of parts in the sBOM Tree or Structure Tree can be meaningless and confusing. You can modify the automated names in the sBOM Tree or Structure Tree by configuring alternate part names, filtering for specific parts and hiding or showing information.
For example, you can perform the following modification:

Modified Structure Tree
The modified Structure Tree displays names that are easier to recognize. This helps large and cumbersome structure trees become more manageable and meaningful. You can configure an alternate part name to include attribute names and values. The alternate part names then automatically appear throughout the user interface in areas such as those listed below:
Tooltips
Annotations
sBOM/Structure Tree
Groups
Searches
Viewables Tab
Attributes Tab
Item List Tab
You can save and reuse the settings in subsequent Creo View sessions.
