What's New: Creo Parametric 4.0 > Sheetmetal Design > Sheet Metal Design Intent Objects for Sheetmetal Design
Sheet Metal Design Intent Objects for Sheetmetal Design
Flexible Modeling recognizes sheet metal design objects.
Release: Creo Parametric 4.0
Benefits and Description
You can watch a video that demonstrates this capability.
User Interface Location: With a sheet metal part open, click Flexible Modeling > Sheet Metal Objects.
In a way similar to how rounds and chamfers are recognized in parts when using Creo Flexible Modeling, design intent for sheet metal parts is expanded to recognize sheet metal design specific objects such as bends, bend reliefs, corner seams, and forms by analyzing the geometry. The recognized characteristics are kept and store in the model. Recognized design objects appear in the Design Objects Tree as part of the Model Tree browser for easy selection when using Flexible Modeling tools. An additional selection filter, Sheet Metal Items, provides support for faster selection or to get more information. Place the pointer on an object to see an additional tooltip. In Creo Parametric 4.0 when using standard sheet metal tools to create a Bend or Flat feature for example, design intent objects are automatically created. In Creo Parametric 4.0 when working with models created in Creo Parametric 3.0 and earlier, design intent objects are not automatically created and are, therefore, not visible. Using recognition tools creates these design objects so they are visible in the Model Tree and are stored with the model.
The recognition of sheet metal design objects is a powerful tool in the recognition of sheet metal design intent to enrich the 3D model data. This is especially important if the model is imported or modifications should be applied to a selected type of sheet metal design object.
