Movement Options for Mesh Manipulation
You can control the movement of the mesh elements when you move, rotate, or scale them. Right-click the dragger and use the following shortcut menu commands to control the movement of the mesh elements while moving or rotating the control mesh. Alternatively, use these options with Transform on the Ribbon.
Default—Moves the vertices of the selected mesh element in the direction of the dragger movement.
Along Edge—Moves the vertices of the selected mesh element along an edge. The dragger is automatically placed on the closest vertex and oriented based on the normal of a least squared plane calculated through all the selected vertices.
Normal—Moves each selected mesh element normal to itself.
Offset Split—Adjusts the offset value when you move the selected faces. The dragger is automatically placed on the closest vertex and oriented along the vertices of the free edge.

* For the above option, you must have selected vertices with at least one free edge that is not a part of the selected mesh element.
Right-click the dragger and use the following shortcut menu commands to control the movement of the mesh elements while scaling the control mesh. Alternatively, use these options with Scale on the Ribbon:
Default—Scales the mesh elements in the direction of the dragger movement.
Same—Scales every face in the same way. If you have selected multiple unconnected faces, all the faces are scaled in the same manner as the first face. If you have selected connected faces, the scaling option Same changes back to Default.
