To Define Spring Properties
1. Click Refine Model and then click the arrow next to Spring. Click Spring Properties. Alternately, click More on the Spring Definition dialog box. The Spring Properties dialog box appears.

* You can also access this dialog box from the Spring Definition dialog box by clicking the More button in the Properties area.
2. Click New. The Spring Property Definition dialog box appears.
3. Enter a name or accept the default name.
4. Optionally, type a description.
5. On the Stiffness tab, type a non-negative real number for at least one of the following extensional and torsional components:
Kxx
Kyy
Kzz
Txx
Tyy
Txx
Specify units for extensional and torsional components or keep the principal system of units.
6. To specify the coupling stiffness properties, clear the Compute Coupling Automatically option and type a positive or negative real number for the following coupling components:
KTxx
KTxy
KTxz
KTyx
KTyy
KTyz
KTzx
KTzy
KTzz
In addition, the diagonal values must be positive or zero for the following extensional and torsional components for off-diagonal axes:
Kxy
Kxz
Kyz
Txy
Txz
Tyz
Note that the matrix should not be negative definite. Specify units for coupling stiffness or keep the principal system of units.
7. In FEM mode only, on the Damping tab, type a non-negative real number for any of the following damping coefficients:
Cxx
Cyy
Czz
8. Click OK to accept your definition or Cancel to discard your changes and close the dialog box.
Return to Spring Properties Dialog Box.
