Wedge and Tri Mapped Mesh Regions
Triangular faces are mapped-meshed either by a degenerate quadrilateral mesh containing quadrilaterals and triangles or by a symmetric triangular mesh. The mapped mesh default for triangular faces is symmetric. Pentahedron (wedge) volumes are meshed with bricks and wedges, or just wedges, consistent with the mesh of the triangular end faces.
For wedge and tri mesh regions, you can select one of the four possible configurations: Degenerate1, Degenerate2, Degenerate3, or Symmetric where the degenerate vertices of the triangular face are numbered as 1, 2 and 3 as shown in the following figure. Pick a region from the Meshing Regions list and right-click to select the mesh configuration. The different mesh configurations are shown in the following figures.

degenerate2 quadrilateral and triangular mapped mesh

When a new configuration is selected, the mesh region display gets updated.
