About the Mold Layout User Interface
The Mold Layout user interface consists of a tab with groups of commands and additional buttons on the Graphics toolbar.
Click Applications > Mold Layout or click Mold > Mold Layout to open the Mold Layout tab.
Get Data Group
Use the Get Data group to import and place a user-defined feature in a mold layout.
User Defined Feature—Opens the Open dialog box to select and place a user-defined feature.
Mold Group
Use the Mold group to locate and place a mold cavity, a mold base, and an injection molding machine.
Locate Cavity—Opens the LAYOUT dialog box to place and orient a mold cavity.
Mold Bases—Opens the Mold Base Selection dialog box to add a mold base and set the vendor, series, size, parameters, and orientation.
Injection Molding Machine—Opens the Injection Mold Machine Selection dialog box to select an injection molding machine, and set parameters and the origin.
Mold
Catalog—Opens the CATALOG menu to add, remove, or change a set of standard components.
Design Features Group
Use the Design Features group to create a reference model cutout, silhouette curves, offsets, and cuts.
Reference Model Cutout—Select one or more components and reference models to cut out.
Cut—Opens the SOLID OPTS menu to select a tool and create a cut.
Offset
Area Offset—Opens the Area Offset tab to define a section to offset.
Offset—Opens the Offset tab.
Production Features Group
Use the Production Features group to add water lines, runners, and other features to a mold layout.
Water Line—Opens the Water Line dialog box to sketch a water line and set the size and name.
Runner—Opens the Runner dialog box to sketch a runner and set the shape, name, size, flow path, and direction.
Trim to Geometry—Opens the MOLD MDL TYP menu to create a workpiece or mold base component. Cut or trim geometry using the TRIM TO GEOM dialog box.
Ejector Pin Hole—Opens the EJ PIN HOLE: Straight dialog box to define the type, reference direction, intersection part, and counterbore information.
Analysis Group
Use the Analysis group to define the opening, display information, check the thickness, and analyze the draft of a mold layout.
Mold Opening—Opens the MOLD OPEN menu to define steps for opening a mold layout.
Mold Layout—Opens the Mold Layout Information dialog box to set information to display in a window.
Mold Analysis—Opens the Mold Analysis dialog box to calculate the minimum clearance of a waterline.
Thickness—Opens the Measure: 3D Thickness dialog box to calculate the maximum and minimum thickness between planes.
Analysis
Section Thickness—Opens the Thickness dialog box to calculate the thickness between planes, and set the start and end points of slices.
Draft—Opens the Draft dialog box to analyze the draft of surfaces.
Mode Group
Use the Mode group to access the Mold application and Mold tab.
Mold Cavity—Opens the Select Mold/Cast Cavity dialog box to create a mold assembly or to open an existing mold assembly in the Mold application.
Close Group
Use the Close command to exit the Mold Layout application.
 
Some buttons have corresponding commands on the MOLD LAYOUT menu.
The MOLD LAYOUT menu also includes the Cavity Pocket command to create pockets in mold base plates.
