About the Excel Analysis Output File
You can create a Excel output file from Excel analysis feature. The output file is identical to the Excel file used to define the analysis feature, but evaluated on updated values of the dimensions and parameters used in the Excel analysis feature definition.
The creation of the Excel output file is optional. The Excel output files are created when you set the Create option to YES, in the Result datums window while defining the Excel analysis feature. Creo Parametric creates a temporary and permanent Excel output file based on the master Excel file.
The Excel output files have the following properties:
Master file—Original file that defines the Excel analysis feature. The permanent and temporary output files depend on the master file. However, the master file is independent of temporary and permanent output files. The master file is not affected by the creation, modification or deletion of a Excel analysis feature, or the temporary or permanent output files.
Temporary file—Created when you define the Excel analysis feature. This file is updated when you regenerate the Excel analysis feature. You can open the temporary output file by selecting the Excel analysis feature on the Model Tree, right-clicking, and selecting the Open MS Excel file option from the shortcut menu. Creo Parametric does not delete the temporary output file even if the analysis feature is deleted, renamed, erased from the memory, or when the session is terminated.
The default file name is <excel filename>_<model name>_<feature id>_tmp.xls where,
excel filename is the name of the master Excel file that defines the analysis feature,
model name is the name of the model that contains the Excel analysis feature, and
feature id is the feature ID of the Excel analysis feature.
Permanent file—Creo Parametric saves the temporary file as a permanent output file when the model containing the Excel analysis feature is saved. This file is treated as secondary content of the model that contains the Excel analysis feature.
The default file name is <excel filename>_<model name>_<feature id>.xls where,
<excel filename> is the name of the master Excel file that defines the analysis feature,
<model name> is the name of the model that contains the Excel analysis feature, and
<feature id> is the feature id of the Excel analysis feature.

If you manually modify the temporary or permanent Excel output files, the modifications do not propagate to the model that contains the Excel analysis feature.
To change the output file name, enter the name of the file in the Datum name box in the Result datums window while defining the Excel analysis feature.
If you set the Create option to NO in the Result datums window while defining the Excel analysis feature, Creo Parametric does not create the temporary output file. You can still create and open the temporary output file by selecting the Excel analysis feature on the Model Tree, right-clicking, and clicking the Open MS Excel file on the shortcut menu. However, in this case the temporary file is not updated when the model is regenerated.
