To Create Tool Motions for NC Sequences
1. When creating or editing milling, turning, or holemaking sequences, click Tool Motions on the required tab. For example, while creating a face milling sequence, click Tool Motions on the Face Milling tab.
2. From the tool motions list, select a type of tool motion from the following options:
Follow Curve—Select the curve if it exists or define a curve using the Sketch tool or Datum Curve tool. This is applicable for Face, Trajectory, Roughing, Reroughing, Finishing, Corner Finishing, and Manual Milling.
Automatic Cut and Profile Mill Cut—Create a cut automatically using the machining references. The Automatic Cut option is applicable for Face, Roughing, Reroughing, Finishing, and Corner Finishing and the Profile Mill Cut is applicable for Profile Milling.
Curve Cut—Create a curve trajectory by specifying the curve, offset settings, and references.
Drive Surface Cut—Create a cut motion along surfaces at a specified height. This is applicable for 3–axis trajectory milling.
Approach and Exit Motions
Normal Approach—Create an approach motion normal to the direction of the tool motion.
Tangent Approach—Create an approach motion tangent to the tool motion.
Helical Approach—Create an approach motion where the tool approaches the motion along a helix.
Lead In—Approach a tool motion tangentially along an arc of specified radius.
Plunge—The tool plunges before a selected approach motion.
Normal Exit—Create an exit motion normal to the direction of the tool motion.
Tangent Exit—Create an exit motion tangent to the tool motion.
Helical Exit—Creates a exit motion where the tool exits the motion along a helix. This option is available for Milling NC sequences, except Thread milling. For Thread milling, you can automatically generate helical exit motions using the EXIT_TYPE parameter.
Lead Out—Exit from the current point tangentially to the Automatic Cut motion along an arc of specified radius.
Retract—The tool moves from the current location vertically up to the retract plane.
Goto Motions
Goto Point—Go to a datum point or to a point on the tool path. For 4- and 5-axis NC sequences, you can also specify the tool axis orientation.
Go Delta—Specify tool motions in increments along the axes of the NC sequence coordinate system with respect to the current position of the tool.
Goto Home—Go directly to the Operation HOME point (if specified, using the Home option, when creating the operation).
CL Command—Insert a customized CL command anywhere along the tool path. You can either select a location on the tool path, or you can insert a command at the current tool position.
3. You can manipulate the list of tool motions using the following options on the shortcut menu of a selected tool motion or CL command:
Copy—Copy the selected tool motion or motions and CL command or commands and place them on the clipboard, for insertion at a different control point.
Cut—Remove the selected tool motion or motions and CL command or commands and place them on the Clipboard, for insertion at a different control point.
Delete—Remove the selected tool motion or motions and CL command or commands.
Edit Definition—Change the selected tool motion or CL command.
Edit Parameters—Modify the parameters of the tool motion.

* With the shortcut menu in the graphics window, you can edit the cut motion and follow cut.
