High Speed Machining
High speed machining (both roughing and profiling) is available for 2.5-axis Volume sequences.
To perform high speed roughing in Volume milling, set the ROUGH_OPTION parameter to ROUGH_ONLY and SCAN_TYPE to CONSTANT_LOAD. High speed roughing is based on the following principles:
• Constant cutting condition
• Constant chip load
• Approach from outside material
• Continuous tool engagement
• Minimization of sudden tool direction changes
• Reduction of repositioning moves
To perform high speed profiling in Volume milling, set the ROUGH_OPTION parameter to PROF_ONLY and SCAN_TYPE to CONSTANT_LOAD. High speed profiling consists of the following factors:
• Continuous tool engagement
• Minimization of sudden tool direction changes
• Reduction of repositioning moves
• User-specified minimum radius parameter for concave corners (the CORNER_ROUND_RADIUS parameter)
• Entry and exit moves using an arc or helical move
• Creation of S-connection between slices with respect to the PROFILE_CONNECT_ANGLE parameter, which can be modified.
