About Adding Dimensions to Draft Groups
You can add visible dimensions in a drawing to draft groups. Add dimensions either by selecting them directly from the graphics area or by selecting an entire dimension text using the region selection marquee.
When adding dimensions to draft groups, keep in mind the following:
• You can add a selected dimension to only one draft group.
• Dimensions in draft groups do not snap to snap lines.
• Erasing a dimension does not remove it from its draft group.
• You cannot use direct manipulation to modify a dimension added to a draft group. To modify such a dimension, remove it from its draft group, modify it, and add it back.
• If you have not included the attachment references of a dimension in a draft group, moving the draft group moves only the dimension text.
• If you add a dimension as a callout in a note, the dimension is automatically removed from its draft group.
• If you delete a dimension callout from a note, the dimension is restored and adds the dimension callout back to the draft group to which it was previously associated.
• You cannot clean dimensions added to draft groups.
Coordinate Dimensions
If the linear dimensions that are used to create a coordinate dimension belong to the same draft group, the coordinate dimension is automatically added to the same draft group. A linear dimension is removed from its draft group once you select it as a dimension reference for another coordinate dimension. When you delete a coordinate dimension from a draft group, the corresponding X- and Y- linear dimensions are automatically added to their previous draft groups.
Ordinate Dimensions
If you add or delete an ordinate dimension from a new or existing draft group, all ordinate dimensions of the same ordinate dimension group are added to or deleted from the draft group. If you add a new ordinate dimension to an ordinate dimension group included in a draft group, the new ordinate dimension is automatically added to the draft group.
