About Creating, Redefining, and Inserting Symbols
The commonly-used free-placement and on-entity Creo Parametric drawing symbols that are located in the symbols directory are available on the Symbol Instance Palette in the Legacy Drawing Associator (LDA). You can also access the Symbol Gallery from the Legacy Migration tab.
You can, therefore, create, insert, and define symbols and their definitions in LDA as follows:
Pick and insert the predefined drawing symbols that are available on the Symbol Instance Palette.
Customize existing symbols associated with the model and insert the symbols and their instances on the drawings.
Access the symbol gallery to define new symbols.
Use the symbol gallery to redefine symbols already associated with the drawings and models.
The Symbol Instance Palette is a collection of the frequently-used drawing symbols arranged in separate sections according to their type as free-placement and on-entity symbols. You can pick symbols on the Symbol Instance Palette and insert them as follows:
The free-placement symbols on the drawings.
The on-entity symbols on the drawing or model entities such as coordinate systems, curves, dimensions, dimension witness lines, or edges.
You can place several instances of these predefined symbol types. You can click Annotations > Symbol > Symbol From Palette on the Legacy Migration tab to access the Symbol Instance Palette.
Click Annotations > Symbol > Custom Symbol on the Legacy Migration tab to create custom instances of existing symbols that are associated with the models and the drawings. You can select symbols associated with the models from the Symbol name list in the Custom Drawing Symbol dialog box. Use options on this dialog box to modify their placement and properties and specify a custom origin for the symbols and their instances. The Custom Drawing Symbol dialog box also allows you to browse and select symbols from the Weld Symbols Library and create symbol definitions according to your requirements.
You can click Annotations > Symbol > Symbol Gallery on the Legacy Migration tab and use options on the SYM GALLERY menu to define new symbols and redefine, delete, or save existing symbol definitions. The symbol gallery is a collection of symbol definitions that have their instances on the drawing.
Refer to the Detailed Drawings documentation for information on how to create, redefine, and insert symbol definitions and their instances.
