To Create or Modify an Import Profile at Start of Session
1. Click File > Options. The Creo Parametric Options dialog box opens.
2. Click Data Exchange.
3. Specify the path to a directory or folder in Profiles directory to set up a common profiles directory for the new and modified import and export profiles. To define other locations as the profiles directory, click Browse and select a folder in the Select Directory dialog box.
4. Select a file format in the Import and Open Profiles section.
5. Click Setup Import and Open Profiles. The import profile editor for the selected file format opens with import settings set to the system defaults on the following tabs:
Model
Surface
Curve
Point
Topology
Filter
Misc

* The Misc tab is available in the import profile editor only if you had selected Creo Elements/Direct, CATIA V5, IGES, STEP, VDA, STL, MEDUSA, or Wavefront as the import format. For example, if you select the Neutral file format, the Misc tab is not available in the import profile editor.
6. Include or exclude import settings on the various tabs of the import profile editor.
7. Change the values of the import settings or retain the system defaults if they suit your requirements to create a new profile.
8. To modify an existing import profile of the selected format, click Load Profile in the import profile editor and select an existing import profile from the profiles directory or the last-browsed location.
9. Click Save Profile in the import profile editor. The new or modified import profile is saved by default with the *.dip extension followed by the format name (*.dip_<format>) in the profiles directory or the last-accessed location.
The new or the modified import profile that you saved in the profiles directory is listed in the Default Profile column next to its format in the table under Import and Open Profiles.
10. If Default Profile displays the names of several import profiles for the format, scroll to the end of the row in Default Profile, and select the new or an existing profile to designate it as the default import profile.
11. To designate a profile from an alternate location as the default import profile, scroll to the end of the list of import profiles in Default Import Profile, click Browse, and select the import profile in the alternate location.
12. Click OK in the import profile editor. If you do not click OK in the import profile editor, a message window asks you whether you want to save the default settings in the import profile to a configuration file or you only want to apply the default profile settings to the current session.
13. Click Yes in the message window to save the default profile settings to the config.pro file or click No to use the default profile settings in the current session.
14. Click OK in the Creo Parametric Options dialog box.
