About Model Parameters that Store the Calculated Validation Property Values
When you import solid models or open them as non-native models, Creo calculates the geometric and assembly validation property values for the imported or non-native models with reference to the corresponding validation property values in the source models. The model parameters that are created for the imported or non-native models store the calculated validation property values as validation parameters. The model parameters of the non-native and imported models also store the parameters that are created for the storage of the mass properties of the source models. For example, the PTC_MP_IMP_VOLUME parameter that was created for the mass property of volume in the source model is stored in the corresponding model parameter of the imported model as PTC_MP_VAL_IMP_VOLUME.
The model parameters that store the calculated values of the volume, area, and the center of gravity (COG) validation properties are the validation parameters of the imported and non-native models and are as follows:
PTC_MP_VAL_IMP_VOLUME
PTC_MP_VAL_IMP_AREA
PTC_MP_VAL_IMP_COGX
PTC_MP_VAL_IMP_COGY
PTC_MP_VAL_IMP_COGZ
In addition to the import of solid models and file open using Creo Unite, the validation parameters are created and updated for the following tasks:
The associative update of the Translated Image Models (TIMs) created by the import of part and assembly models with Associative Topology Bus (ATB) capabilities.
The regeneration of the import features and the non-native models opened in Creo regardless of their ATB capabilities.
The upgrade of the structure or graphical representations of TIM assemblies to their master representation.
The validation property values in these parameters are recalculated when you regenerate the imported features and models or associatively update the out-of-date TIM parts and assemblies. However, regenerating assembly models after import does not update the validation parameters. If the TIM assemblies are up-to-date when you initiate an associative update, the validation property values are not recalculated and the validation parameters are not updated. The associative update only recalculates the validation property values of the out-of-date components of an assembly. The update of the validation parameters of TIM assembly components is, therefore, not recursive.

* Validation parameters are not created when the solid models fail to import or solid part models fail to solidify after import, with the exception of the PTC_MP_VAL_IMP_AREA parameter.
If parts fail to solidify when they are regenerated, the PTC_MP_VAL_IMP_VOLUME and the PTC_MP_VAL_IMP_COG* validation parameters are removed from the models while the PTC_MP_VAL_IMP_AREA parameter is retained. Assembly models do not have the COG parameters when one or more part components fail. However, the PTC_MP_VAL_IMP_AREA parameter is not created or is removed only when the import features of the parts fail.
Validation parameters are also not created or updated in the following instances:
Creo fails to calculate the validation property values of the solid models after import especially because of bad topology.
The TIM assemblies have graphic and structural representations.
The assembly representation changes from graphic to structure or structure to graphics.
The graphic or structural representations of TIM assemblies are associatively updated.
Import features and non-native models that are up-to-date with their source models are reopened or retrieved in Creo.
