About Importing Notes and Symbols of Creo Elements/Direct Drawings as Associative Data
Symbols and notes associated with 3D geometry are transferred to Creo Parametric when you import Creo Elements/Direct*.mi, *.bi, and *.bdl files with the Drawing Associative with 3D Model option selected on the Import MI dialog box. Notes and symbol instances that are associated with references such as edges, points, lines, arcs, circles, ellipses, and splines are imported as associative data.
Notes attached to edges are imported. When leader notes are associatively imported, the arrow heads of the leader notes remain attached to their reference geometry, that is, the edges. Multi-leader notes are attached to the related reference edges after import.
You can import the following types of symbols:
Welding
Surface finish
GD & T
Composite symbols
When notes and symbols are associative, the notes and symbols are attached with their references in the 3D models at the points of attachment. Points of attachment are relative positions along lines or arcs.
The points of attachments of the associated notes and symbol instances are as follows:
On-item
Leader
Normal leader
Tangent leader
