To Append a 3D IGES File to an Existing Model
1. Click Model > Get Data > Import with a part open. The Open dialog box opens.
2. Select IGES (.igs, .iges) in the Type box. A list of IGES files in the current working directory appear.
3. Click the name of the 3D IGES file that you want to append to the existing model or browse to find and then click the file.
4. Click Import. The File dialog box and the Import tab open.
5. Retain the coordinate system reference in use, select another coordinate system, or asynchronously create a coordinate system as the placement reference for the imported geometry in the existing model.
6. Insert the imported feature as a non-solidified quilt or surface or a solid protrusion in the existing model or remove geometry from the existing solid model.
7. Use Import DataDoctor (IDD) to close any imported quilt that is open before creating and inserting protrusions and cuts.
8. Click on the Import tab. The IGES part or assembly is appended to the native model. The import log file is automatically generated in the working directory.
