Importing SolidWorks Import Bodies
SolidWorks models contain one or more geometric bodies. Native bodies are created when you model features in SolidWorks. Import bodies are created when you import non-native data to SolidWorks.
A SolidWorks part can consist of the following geometry configurations:
Native body and multiple import bodies
Multiple import bodies without a native body
A single import body without a native body
When a SolidWorks part consists of the native body and one or more import bodies, the part explodes into an assembly during its import. The native body and the import bodies are imported as individual components of the exploded assembly, a component for each import body and the native body. A SolidWorks part with only import bodies, without geometry in the primary database, also explodes into an assembly on import, with a component for each import body. A SolidWorks part with a single import body, without a native body, is converted to a Creo part.
