About Importing and Exporting STEP Associative Drafting and 3D Data
You can import and export STEP AP214 and STEP AP202 Associative drafting data. To export drawings to the STEP format, you must set the step_export_dwg_views configuration option to one of the following values:
no to export only 2D representations of the 3D models. This is the default.
as_3d_views to export 3D model geometry with its associative views.
as_3d_views_assoc_draft to export 3D model geometry with its associative views and view related annotations.
You can export drawings and 3D models to the following application protocols of STEP:
ap202_is to export the drawing or 3D model using the AP202IS STEP application protocol and conformance class.
ap203_is to export 3D models using the AP203IS STEP application protocol and conformance class. This is the default in 3D mode.
ap203_is_ext to export 3D models using the AP203IS_EXT STEP application protocol and conformance class.
ap203_e2 to export the non-geometric data of 3D models using the AP203E2 STEP application protocol and conformance class. The non-geometric data includes annotations with Product Manufacturing Information (PMI), the material name and density, the user-defined parameters, and the assembly validation property to verify the number of child components of the assembly.
ap209_dis to export the 3D model using the AP209DIS STEP application protocol and conformance. Use analysis packages for design studies. Does not export edges, boundary conditions, constraints, loads, mesh, and mid planes.
ap214_is to export the 3D model using the AP214IS STEP application protocol and conformance class. Supports the exchange of non-geometric data and graphical annotations. The non-geometric data includes annotations with Product Manufacturing Information (PMI), material name and density, the user-defined parameters, and the geometric and assembly validation properties. The assembly validation property verifies the number of child components of the assembly.
ap242 to export 3D models using the AP242 STEP application protocol and conformance class. The export includes datums, quilts, hidden entities, parameters, and 3D model annotations such as GD&T, notes, and symbols. The annotations contain PMI data and are exported as display data. The import and export of assembly-level annotations are not supported.
