To Convert a non-Creo Model to a TIM Using Advanced Tools
1. Open a Creo assembly with non-Creo models as components from a Windchill server.
2. Right-click a non-Creo component on the Model Tree and click Activate.
3. Select geometry on the non-Creo component and begin modifying the component. The Conflicts dialog box opens. It prompts you to check out the component.
4. Select Continue from the Action list and click OK in the Conflicts dialog box to check out the component.
The Confirmation dialog box notifies you that the design changes that you are about to make to the non-Creo component will not be reflected in the source model. It asks you whether you want to convert the component to a Creo model.
5. Retain the default selection of Convert and click OK on the Confirmation dialog box. The Convert to new Creo models dialog box opens.
6. Click Use advanced conversion tools and click OK. The Convert to new Creo models dialog box opens.
The Model Tree structure displays the top-level Creo assembly and its components.
The non-Creo parent models and the component to be modified and their occurrences, if any, show Convert as the Action while the Creo models show Reuse as the Action.
The New name column in the Convert to new Creo models dialog box displays the suggested names for the non-Creo component and its non-Creo parent models.
The Convert to new Creo models dialog box displays error messages for models with name conflicts, if any.
The Warning — TIM models already exist on server! warning dialog box opens when Translated Image Models (TIMs) exist on the Windchill server for the non-Creo components. It lists the TIM parts and assemblies that exist for the non-Creo component on the server and suggests that you reuse the existing TIM parts and assemblies and not create TIM models. It recommends that you use the Replace command to reuse the existing TIMs from the server for the design changes.
7. If the Warning — TIM models already exist on server! warning dialog box opens, click Continue to proceed with the conversion of the non-Creo component to a TIM part or assembly and replace the non-Creo component with the new TIM part or assembly.
You can click Cancel if you want to manually replace the non-Creo component with the existing TIM part or assembly from the Windchill server and reuse this TIM part or assembly for the design changes.
8. If required, specify alternate model names in New name with the .prt and asm extensions.
9. Click OK. The Conflicts dialog box opens. It prompts you to check out the top Creo assembly model.
10. Select Check out now from the Action list and click OK in the Conflicts dialog box to check out the top assembly model.
The non-Creo component and its parent models are converted to TIM parts and assemblies. The TIM parts and assemblies replace the non-Creo component and its parent models. The component remains active.
11. Select geometry on the TIM part or assembly to restart the design changes that you initially began before you converted the non-Creo component to a TIM part or assembly or replaced the non-Creo component with an existing TIM part or assembly from the Windchill server.
12. Click File > Check In > Auto Check In or right-click the model and click Check In > Auto to check in the model with the design changes to the Windchill server.
