To Create a Sketched Datum Point
1. Click Feature > Datum Point on the AutobuildZ tab. The Sketched Datum Point wizard opens.
2. Type a name for the datum point in the Name box.
3. Under Datum Points, on screen Step 2 Of 3 of the Sketched Datum Point wizard, select a line, arc, circle, or point to define the datum point. Use CTRL to select more than one entity.
Depending on the drawing entity that you select, the datum points are created as follows:
Line—Creates datum points at both ends of the line.
Arc—Creates datum points at the open ends and the center of the arc.
Circle—Creates datum points at the center of the circle.
Point—Creates a datum point for the point.
The datum points are highlighted by yellow circles on the drawing.
4. Click if you want to clear the selection.
5. Under Sketch Plane, on screen Step 3 Of 3, select a line entity to define a sketch plane.
The 3D Info box displays the name of the datum plane or surface that the selected line entity represents when the datum plane or surface exists in the 3D model. If the datum plane or the surface does not exist, a new datum plane is created and its name displayed in the 3D Info box.
6. Click if you want to clear the selection.
7. Click Preview to preview the following feature elements in a Creo Parametric window during the relevant step of the datum point creation process:
The datum plane or surface that the selected line entity represents is highlighted in cyan after you have defined the sketch plane.
The datum point is highlighted in red when all feature elements are defined.
8. Click OK.
