About the Screw Fastener Definition Dialog Box
1. In the Catalog list, select the catalog.
2. Click to select an assembled fastener from the current assembly, to copy its definition.
3. Click to open a previously saved fastener definition.
4. Click to save the current fastener definition.
5. In the Screw area, select the type of screw.
6. In the Thread area you can perform the following actions:
Select the thread or click to select a hole surface to measure. The diameter of the next smaller screw is selected automatically.
Set the screw length or click to set it automatically.
Click to turn off or turn on the permanent setting of length automatically.
7. Select the Side 1 Washers check boxes to add side 1 washers.
8. If you are assembling a fastener with a nut, then Side 2 Washers check boxes and the Nut check box are available. In this area you can perform the following actions:
Select the Side 2 Washers check boxes to add side 2 washers.
Select the Nut check box to add a nut and then select a nut from the list.
9. If you are assembling a fastener with a thread, then the Insert check box is available. Select the Insert check box to add an insert and then select an insert from the list.
 
* Inserts require special hole charts. Templates are available in <creo_loadpoint>\Common Files\afx\text\hole\helicoil*.hol
10. Click the arrow next to 2D – Preview to expand or collapse the 2D preview of the current screw fastener definition.
11. Click the arrow in the upper right corner to expand or collapse the Hole area.
Select through hole tolerance from the lists. Enter a different value to change the standard diameter values.
Add Side 1 – Counterbore or Side 2 – Counterbore. Select the diameter from the list. Enter different values to change the standard counterbore dimensions. Enter the depth of the counterbore or the offset of the screw, or right-click and select one of the commands listed below:
Maximum Value to set the value to the maximum.
Select to set the value by selecting a surface. The value is the measured distance from the placement reference to the selected surface. measured.
Measure to select two surface references. The value is the measured distance from the first surface to the selected point on the second surface.
In the Side 2 –Thread area you can:
Select or clear the Through thread check box to create a through thread.
Select or clear the Through hole check box to create a through hole.
Enter a different value for Thread depth and Drill depth if required.
 
* In the paid version of Creo Intelligent Fastener, you can select or clear the With thread check box to create a hole without thread surface and change the Drill diameter if required.
* You can configure Creo Intelligent Fastener to create holes with or without external references. If no references are created, the hole positions do not update automatically when a position changes. To manually update hole positions, click Tools > Intelligent Fastener > Update holes.
Add Side 1 – Auto UDF or Side 2 – Auto UDF and enter an Offset value to assemble a UDF. Use the automatic UDF functionality to define the holes to be made in parts that touch the screw or nut placement surface. You can also use a shortcut menu to set the offset as outlined above for the counterbore depth.
After the assembly has been assembled several times, the Automatic UDF functionality creates all the necessary holes in the attaching parts in a single step. Click Framework > Automatic UDFs to create and update the holes.
 
* The automatic UDF functionality is available only in Creo Advanced Framework.
12. Click Preview to see a preview of the screw fastener in Creo Parametric.
13. Click OK to assemble the screw fastener using your definition or click Cancel to close the Screw Fastener Definition dialog box.
