To Create a Mirrored Copy of a Subassembly
1. Retrieve an assembly that contains a subassembly to mirror, and click or select the subassembly in the Model Tree, right-click, and select Mirror Component. The Mirror Component dialog box opens.
2. Select the subassembly to mirror when it was not selected before entering the tool.
3. Select or create a planar reference as the mirror plane. The name of the selected plane is displayed in the Planar reference box.

4. Under New component, select one of the following options:
Create a new model (default)—Creates a new mirrored component.
Reuse selected model—Reuses the component to create the mirror component.
5. When you create a new model, type a new name in the Name box, or leave the default name. When you reuse the selected model, you cannot rename it.
6. Under Mirror, select one of the following options:
Geometry only (default)—Creates a mirrored copy of the original part geometry.
Geometry with features—Creates a mirrored copy of the geometry and features of the original part.
7. Under Dependency Control, set one or both of the parameters:
Geometry dependent—Updates the mirrored part geometry when the original part geometry is modified.
Placement dependent—Updates the mirrored part placement when the original part placement is modified.
8. Click Perform symmetry analysis and follow the steps below, or click OK or middle-click to exit the tool. A mirrored copy of the subassembly is placed in the assembly.
9. To create a mirrored subassembly, follow one of the procedures below.

Using System Defaults to Mirror a Subassembly
You can mirror a subassembly quickly, using the system defaults when you click OK in the Mirror Component dialog box. Follow the steps below to perform symmetry analysis before the mirror operation.
1. Make sure the Perform symmetry analysis check box is selected. Include additional elements when required.
2. To create a mirror subassembly reusing symmetric components, make sure the Reuse symmetric components check box is selected. Click OK.
A new mirrored subassembly appears in the graphics window.
Manipulating Components to Mirror in a Subassembly
To manipulate components in the mirror subassembly, use the Advanced command.
1. To select components for the mirror operation, click Advanced. The Mirror Subassembly Components component chooser opens. When you perform a symmetry analysis, symmetric components are reused by default. Anti-symmetric components are reused as twin components.
2. To exclude a component from the mirror subassembly or reuse a component without mirroring it, click in the Action column and choose Exclude or Reuse from the list. Non-symmetrical components are mirrored by default.
3. To rename dependent components of the mirrored subassembly, perform one of the following operations:
Rename individual components
Select the component name in the New Name column and type a new name.
Rename all components
1. Click . All components in the tree are selected.
2. Click Generate New Names. New names are automatically generated according to the option in the File Name Generation area.
4. To change the default File Name Generation option click or clear one of the following check boxes:
Click Use Template to change text in selected original names to new text. Type the original text in the first box and the new text in the second box.
Click Use Prefix to add a prefix to the selected names. Use the default prefix or type a new one.
Click Use Suffix to add a suffix to the selected names. Use the default suffix or type a new one.
5. Click Generate New Names.
 
* Reused symmetrical components are not given new names.
6. To change dependencies click or clear the component check box in the Dep. Placement or Dep. Geometry columns.
7. Click OK.
