Tip: Successful Component Replacement
When you replace a component, you must make sure that all references are paired. Consider the following situations:
When you replace a component in an assembly declared to a notebook, you must replace it using the notebook declarations.
When references are missing for the replacing component, the Component tab opens. You must specify the component reference, (assembly references are already defined).
When you replace a pattern member, all pattern members are automatically updated, either immediately or after references are selected in the Component tab.
Packaged components are replaced in the same way as fully constrained components.
The same functionality and restrictions apply to all component replacement options:
Select the component in the assembly or Model Tree. Right-click and choose Replace from the shortcut menu or click Operations > Replace.
In Program, click Tools > Program > Edit Design. Select From Model or From File. A text file opens. Replace the component file name with another component in the text file.
When a feature or component fails, you can replace the component in Resolve Mode. Only applicable replacement methods are available.
When the assembly has a family table and one of the table columns is a component, click Tools > Replace Using in the Family Table dialog box to replace it with another. Only applicable replacement methods are available.
