To Create a Static Analysis with Large Deformation
On the Static Analysis Definition dialog box, specify Name, Constraints, Loads, Convergence, and Output.
2. Select the Nonlinear / Use Load Histories check box to display the Nonlinear options area. The Output Steps area appears on the Output tab.
If your model has elastoplastic materials, hyperelastic materials, nonlinear springs, contact interfaces, or a combination of these, the Nonlinear / Use Load Histories check box is selected by default and the cause of nonlinearity is highlighted in the dialog box.
3. Select the Calculate Large Deformations check box.
• For a model with hyperelastic or elastoplastic materials this check box is selected by default.
• For a model with hyperelastic materials, you cannot clear this check box, as large deformations are always calculated for such materials.
• For a model with contact interfaces select this check box to calculate large deformations in the model.
4. Select the
Include Snap-through check box on the
Convergence tab to study the load displacement history for problems in structures with snap-through or post buckling behavior.
The Include Snap-through check box is active only if the Calculate Large Deformations check box is selected.
6. Click OK.
The dialog box reappears displaying the name, type, and description of the new analysis.
