To Create a Dimension Pattern
This procedure describes how to pattern a feature by using driving dimensions and specifying the incremental changes to the pattern. Dimensional patterns can be unidirectional or bidirectional.
1. Select the feature to pattern and click Model > Pattern. The Pattern tab opens.
2. Under Type, select Dimension. The 1st direction collector is active.
3. Select a dimension to pattern in the first direction. A value box opens in the graphics window, with the dimension increment initially equal to the dimension value.
4. To change the dimension increment, type or select a value in the value box.
*
You can specify the dimension increment in the graphics window only the first time. To modify the increment, on the Dimensions tab, type a value under Increment.
5. To select more dimensions to pattern in the first direction, hold down the CTRL key while you select dimensions.
6. To specify the increment for each selected dimension, on the Dimensions tab, type a value under Increment for Direction 1.
7. To define the number of pattern members in the first direction, including the pattern leader, on the Pattern tab, type a value next to Members. The default number of pattern members is 2.
8. To create a bidirectional pattern, on the Pattern tab, click the 2nd direction collector, and then select dimensions.
9. To specify the dimension increment for patterning in the second direction, on the Dimensions tab, type a value under Increment for Direction 2.
10. To define the number of pattern members in the second direction, on the Pattern tab, next to Members for the second direction, type a value. The default number of pattern members is 2.
11. Click OK.
