About the Project User Interface
The Project tab consists of commands, tabs, and shortcut menus. Click > to open the Project tab.
Commands
• Project
◦ Chain—Projects curves or edge chains.
◦ Sketch—Projects a sketch.
◦ Cosmetic Sketch—Projects a cosmetic sketch.
◦ Projected item collector—Displays the curves, chains, sketch, or cosmetic sketch to project.
• Project On
◦ Surfaces collector—Displays the surfaces of one or more bodies, or quilts, or datum planes onto which to project the sketch or chains.
• Project Direction
◦ Direction list—Sets the projection direction to one of the following options:
▪ Along Direction—Projects along a specified direction.
▪ Normal to Surface—Projects normal to the curve plane or a specified plane or surface.
◦ Direction reference collector—Displays the plane, axis, axis of a coordinate system, or straight entity to use as the direction reference.
◦ —Flips the direction of the projection.

◦ Projected item list—Sets the item to project to chain, sketch, or cosmetic sketch.
◦ Chains collector—Displays curves or edge chains to project.
▪ Details—Opens the Chain dialog box to modify chain properties.
◦ Sketch—Displays a sketch or cosmetic sketch to project.
▪ Define—Opens the Sketch dialog box.
▪ Edit—Opens the Sketch dialog box to edit the internal sketch.
◦ Surfaces collector—Displays the surfaces of one or more bodies, or quilts, or datum planes, onto which to project the sketch or chains.
▪ Details—Opens the Surface Sets dialog box to modify surface set properties.
◦ Direction Reference—Displays a plane, axis, coordinate system axis, or straight entity to specify the projection direction.
▪ Flip—Flips the direction reference.
• Properties
◦ Name box—Sets a name for a projection.
◦ —Displays detailed component information in a browser.
Shortcut Menus
Right-click the graphics window to access shortcut menu commands.
• Select Sketch—Activates the
Sketch collector on the
References tab if
Sketch or
Cosmetic Sketch is selected.
• Select Chain—Activates the
Chains collector on the
References tab when
Chain is selected.
• Select Surfaces—Activates the Surfaces collector to select the surfaces of one or more bodies, quilts, or datum planes, onto which to project the sketch or chains.
• Select Direction Reference—Activates the Project Direction collector.
• Clear—Clears the active collector.
• Define Internal Sketch—When
Sketch or
Cosmetic Sketch is selected, opens the
Sketch dialog box.
• Edit Internal Sketch—When
Sketch or
Cosmetic Sketch is selected, opens the
Sketch dialog box.
• Along direction—Projects the selected chains or sketch in a specified direction.
• Normal to surface—Projects the selected chains or sketch normal to the target surface.
