To Project Pattern Members onto a Surface
1. Make sure you are creating or redefining a Fill, Curve, or Point pattern.
2. Click the Options tab.
3. Select the Follow surface shape check box.
4. Select a model surface on which to project the pattern members.
5. Select the Follow surface direction check box to match the pattern member orientation to the surface to the pattern leader orientation to the surface.
6. Select one of the following Spacing options:
◦ As projected
◦ Map to Surface Space
◦ Map to Surface UV Space
7. Finish creating or redefining the pattern and click 
OK.
