To Edit Dimension Properties, Text, or Text Style

Part Modeling > Modifying the Part > Editing Dimensions > To Edit Dimension Properties, Text, or Text Style

This procedure applies to most application. If you use the Menu Manager in your application, select a procedure under Using the Menu Manager to Edit.

1. Perform one of the following actions:

◦ In the graphics window:

1. Set the selection filter to Features.

2. Double-click a feature to select and edit it. All feature dimensions appear.

3. To select more than one feature for editing, hold down the CTRL key and double-click.

• When you hold down the CTRL key and double-click an item, this selects it or removes it from the selection and activates the Edit mode. You can change dimension values and properties for the selected items.

• When you edit more than one feature, only feature-level dimensions appear. To edit sketch level dimensions, select the sketch. Feature dimensions are also available in this case.

◦ In the Model Tree, right-click one or more features and choose

Edit to show the feature dimensions in the graphics window.

• When you select more than one feature to edit, only feature-level dimensions are available.

• In Assembly mode, click

Tree Filters. The Model Tree Items dialog box opens. Under Display, click the Features check box to display features in the Model Tree.

• You can select Features from the selection filter.

• If you select a copied dependent feature containing a section, then Copied Feature > Make Section Independent appears in the shortcut menu. You must make the section independent before you can edit the section.

2. Double-click a dimension to select it, and right click and select Properties. The Dimension Properties dialog box opens.

3. Click a tab to modify the properties, display, or text style for the selected dimensions.

◦ Properties

• You can change the value of the selected dimension from the Nominal Value box in the Properties tab.

• When Decimal is selected, the default number of decimal places for dimensions is two. To increase the precision, type a value in the Decimal Places box. You can also change the number of decimal places using the configuration option default_dec_places.

• When Fractional is selected, you can set the denominator. The denominator that you set overrides any value set with the configuration option dim_fraction_denominator.

• To turn on Tolerance mode, click File >

Options > Entity Display and select the Show dimension tolerances check box. You can then set the tolerance mode in the Properties tab. You can also set tolerances to display by setting the tol_display configuration option to yes.

◦ Display

• Use Flip Arrows to toggle the display of arrowheads between inside and outside the dimension extension lines.

• On the Display tab, you can add text to a dimension value (such as diameter, ref, or type ) and special symbols. Type @D at the point in your text where you want the dimension to display.

◦ Text Style

Changes are visible in the graphics window.

4. When your modifications are complete, click OK.

If the dimension is dependent, the command Make Dimension Independent appears in the shortcut menu. Click Make Dimension Independent to make the dimension independent.
