About Communicating Server Status in a Windchill Connected Session of Creo
When multiple users access the same server objects in a Windchill connected session of Creo, some of these users may modify the server objects. In such a multi-user environment, Creo accesses the Windchill database and notifies you of changes to the status of the server-managed objects to make sure that you are working with the correct versions of the objects. The status of the server objects indicates whether users can concurrently work on the latest version of the server objects without overwriting each other’s changes or losing one’s own changes.
The symbols that indicate the status of server objects in the Workspace listing page of Windchill are also listed by the Windchill Server Status column of the Model Tree in Creo. Additionally, the Notification Center reports critical information and warnings regarding the state of the server objects. You can right-click a server object in the Model Tree, and click Notification Center on the shortcut menu to view the critical information of the server object in the Notification Center.
The Windchill Server Status column of the Model Tree displays glyphs or symbols for the following status of the server objects:
Critical server information such as the out-of-date state of the server objects.
Warnings such as objects modified without checkouts.
Server and Creo session information such as server objects checked out by other users or modified in session.

* When a server object has more than a single status, the Windchill Server Status column in the Model Tree only displays the status symbol or glyph that corresponds with the most severe state of the server object. The tooltip of the status symbol or glyph displays the additional status of the server object in the order of priority, the most severe to the least severe.
The status of the server objects helps you determine the consequence of your intended actions. For instance, when the status of a server object indicates that it is checked out by another user, you can defer your intention to reference the object until its out-of-date status is cleared. If you are warned that the iteration of the server object you are trying to check out is not the latest or a message indicates that no other iteration of the object can be currently checked out, you can perform an Update action to check for the current version of the server object. You can then accordingly add the latest iteration of the object to the workspace.
When multiple users are working on the same server objects in Creo or Windchill, you can click File > Manage File > Refresh Server Status in Creo or right-click the status of a server object on the Model Tree and click Refresh Server Status on the shortcut menu to refresh the status of the server objects. Creo retrieves the current status of the objects from the server and the Model Tree and the Notification Center are then refreshed so that they display the current and the active status symbols and notifications of the server objects. The symbols that are no longer valid are removed from the Windchill Server Status column and the corresponding text in the Database Status column of the Model Tree is updated so that the status of the server objects on the Model Tree are up-to-date.
