Tests for Elastoplastic Materials
Use the test area on the Plastic Hardening Law Definition dialog box to specify the true stress and true total strain values derived from experimental tests.
Select Test > New or click to create a new test. Each new test appears as a new tab in the test area. You can create upto 10 tests for a material.
Note the following points while creating an elastoplastic material using tests:
You can create only Uniaxial tests for elastoplastic material.
You need to specify only the data at the yield point and for the plastic part of the stress-strain curve.
You must enter monotonically increasing values for true total strain and corresponding values of true stress. When you define only a single test, the first value of stress is the Tensile Yield Stress for the material and the first value of strain is the tensile yield stress divided by Young’s modulus for the material.
In the case of multiple tests, the first value is the tensile yield stress, which is the average value of the first entry in the stress column for all the defined tests. The first value for strain is the yield strain, which is the tensile yield stress divided by Young’s modulus for the material. You cannot edit the value of yield strain.
The type of test data you enter depends on the type of analysis you want to run with the material defined.
To delete any test, select Test > Delete.
You can select the units of stress from the drop-down list at the bottom of the test area. The principal system of units previously set for the model determines the units that appear as the default.
To import a file containing the stress-strain data click Test > Import or click . The stress-strain file must be in the following format:
The stress strain data must be in an ASCII file.
Each pair of strain and stress values must be on a single line, with strain preceding stress.
The values of stress and strain must be separated by a space.
For a line, data following a # character is ignored.
The values of strain must be monotonically increasing.
The data from the imported file is displayed in tabular form in the stress-strain data table.
To clear all the data from any test, select Test > Clear or click .
