Perfect Plasticity
When the stress is below the tensile yield stress, the material behaves elastically. After yielding has occurred, perfect plasticity can be represented by this equation:
σ = σy
where:
σ represents stress
σy is the tensile yield stress of the material
For perfect plasticity you do not have to curve fit the data since the graph for perfect plasticity is a straight line parallel to X axis.
The graph below represents the stress-strain curve for a perfectly plastic material, where εp represents strain.
Perfect plasticity is not available on the Plastic Hardening Law Definition dialog box. It is only available on the Material Definition dialog box, when Define By Tests is not selected
