To Define a Crack
To define a crack idealization in a 3D model in Creo Simulate Standalone you must ensure that your model has quilt surfaces defined in it. In Creo Simulate Integrated mode you can switch to Creo Parametric to create a quilt surface to use it for defining a crack.
1. Click Refine Model > Crack. The Crack Definition dialog box opens.
2. Specify a name for the crack, or use the default name.
3. To change the color of the icon and the label displayed for the crack, click the color swatch adjacent to Name.
4. To define a 3D crack, select individual quilt surfaces or an entire quilt. To define a 2D crack, select edge curves.
All references that you select must lie inside the model or must cut into the interior of the model. The edge, curve, or surface reference can pass through multiple surfaces or volumes. However you must ensure that the crack you define does not cut through the entire model.

* Simulation objects defined on any of the reference surfaces, edges, or vertices used in a crack idealization are ignored during meshing and analysis run.
5. Click OK.
