To Save Textures
1. Open a model that has an appearance with texture applied to it.
2. Click Tools > Appearances Manager. The Appearances Manager dialog box opens. Select the required appearance with texture from the Model palette.
3. On the Bump, Texture, or Decaltab, right click the texture swatch and click Preview Texture. The texture opens in the Image Editor window.
4. Click File > Save As. The Save a Copy dialog box opens.
5. Type a name for the texture in the New Name box to save the texture with a name other than the default name. Select a format from the Type list to save the texture.
6. Click OK. The texture is extracted and saved as a separate file at the specified location with the specified name and format.
Or
1. Open a model that has an appearance with texture applied to it.
2. Click Tools > Image Editor.
3. In the Image Editor, click File > Open. The Open dialog box opens.
4. Click the location in the Common Folders pane to display the textures applied to the model.
5. Select a texture and click Open to open the selected texture in the Image Editor window.
6. Click File > Save As. The Save a Copy dialog box opens.
7. Type a name for the texture in the New Name box to save the texture with a name other than the default name. Select a format from the Type list to save the texture.
8. Click OK. The texture is extracted and saved as a separate file at the specified location with the specified name and format.
 
If the individual texture files are not available for embedded textures, that is, for textures saved with the model, then this procedure is the only way of extracting the individual texture from the model and saving it.
To save the textures with the model, set the save_texture_with_model configuration option to yes.
