To Save a non-Creo Assembly with Internal, Intersected, and Multibodied Components
1. Click
File >
Open. The
File Open dialog box opens.
2. Browse and select an Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, or NX assembly model with the following components:
◦ Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, or NX part components that contain multibodies.
◦ SolidWorks assembly models with virtual components.
◦ CATIA V4 *.modelassemblies that contain internal components.
◦ Sub-assembly components that are intersected by assembly level features from the non-Creo CAD systems.
3. Click Open.
◦ The assembly opens as a non-Creo model.
◦ The multibodied part components open as part components.
◦ The mutlibodies open as individual solid bodies within the part component.
◦ The internal, virtual, and sub-assembly components that are intersected by assembly features open as internal components.
◦ Each non-Creo component references the assembly or a subassembly component.
4. Click File > Save As > Save a Copy. The Save a Copy dialog box opens.
5. Specify a new name for the assembly in File name.
6. Set Type to Assembly (*.asm).
7. Click OK. The Assembly Save a Copy dialog box opens.
◦ The assembly shows Action as Save a Copy.
◦ Each reference component shows Action as Reuse.
8. Change the Action of each component from Reuse to Save a Copy.
9. Specify new names for the components.
10. Click Save Copy or Save Copy and Open.
◦ The non-Creo assembly is saved as a Creo assembly by the new name you specified.
◦ The components are saved as individual Creo components.
◦ If you clicked Save Copy and Open, the assembly opens in a Creo Window.
