About Switching Tools and Selecting Geometry
When working with geometry, you can switch from a partially active default tool to another tool. The tool that you switch to becomes the active tool and enables you to perform operations of the partially active tool. A tool is said to be partially active when you select an entity and do not perform any operation using the Live Toolbar options of the selected tool.
To switch to another tool and select an entity, place the pointer over the entity in the graphics window. After the item preselection highlights, click it. You can select multiple entities by pressing CTRL as you click. The number of selected entities are displayed on the status bar. For example, if you select four entities, 4 selected is displayed on the status bar.
