About the Selection Filter in Assembly Mode
Remember the following points as you work with the selection filter in assembly mode:
• You can use the selection filter on the status bar to select entities from an assembly.
• You can set the selection filter to one of part, datum, vertex, sketch, edge, surface, quilt, or geometry.
• When you activate or work with an activated part in assembly mode, the selection filter displays items based on the activated part. After setting a filter, you can select reference entities from any of the parts or subassemblies within the assembly other than the activated part itself.
• When you set the selection filter to All, you can select an entire part by clicking a vertex on the part. However, this selection is not possible if you set the selection filter to Vertex itself.
• When you set the selection filter to All, you can deselect an entire part by holding down the CTRL key and clicking a vertex on the part. However, this is not possible if you set the selection filter to Vertex itself.

For querying and selecting entities you can also use a shortcut menu in the graphics window.
