Deploying Packages
A deployment is a process that downloads and subsequently installs or executes the .lua instruction file on an asset. The DEPLOYMENT section allows you to successfully deploy a package using the following steps:
  1. From the Deployment section, select Find package for deployment.
  2. Select a package from the Packages list, or use the available filters to search for a package. Click Next.
  3. The Create One Time Deployment page appears.
  4. Enter a Deployment Name and Deployment Description.
  5. Optionally, you can add .lua script parameters. If you chose to modify and use a sample script when you created the package associated with this deployment, you must add the appropriate parameters and values here. After entering information for Parameter Name and Parameter Value, click Image. For more information, see Parameters for Sample Scripts.
  6. Select one of the following options for both Package Download Time and Package Install Time:
    • Immediately—This option downloads the package to the target assets immediately, or installs the package to the target assets immediately after deployment.
    • Date:—This option allows you to use the calendar to set a specific date and time.
  7. Click Next.
  8. The Target Assets page appears.
  9. Select a saved asset search from the Included Assets or Excluded Assets drop-down menu. There is one pre-defined asset search by default, called named All My Assets. When necessary, you can add a new asset search by clicking New Asset Search, and using the New Search page of the Remote Access and Control utility to save a new search. Return to this page when you are finished, and select the new asset search from the drop-down menu.
  10. Click the Image add asset search icon. The selected asset search appears in the Asset Searches list below.
  11. Repeat the above steps for each asset group to be included or excluded.
  12. Click Next. The Notify page appears.
  13. In the Notification Recipients section select the appropriate options for your deployment by selecting or leaving the following checkboxes blank:
    • Enable error notification
    • Notify people below when deployment to all assets has finished
  14. Use the Notify User, Notify User Groups, and Notify These Email Addresses field to enter users, user groups, or email addresses you want to receive notification about the deployment of the package.
  15. Click Image next to the fields to add the user, user group or email address to the appropriate lists.
  16. Repeat the above steps as needed.
  17. When you are finished, click Next. The Deploy page appears.
  18. Review all of the deployment information to verify that it is correct, and click Deploy.
  19. The Track Deployment By Package page appears. For more information, see Tracking Deployments
