Benefits and Description
Instances arise due to a change, requiring a new revision, where it is appropriate for the new version to be derived from an earlier (non-latest) revision. For instance, assume a part has revisions A, B, and C. A change requires that a new version D be created. However, the necessary change should be made against revision B as opposed the current latest C. In 9.1, the preference “Allow revise of non-latest revisions” has been introduced, when enabled, allowing such a workflow, while the system tracks the revision history clearly indicating revision D was derived from B.
