Benefits and Description
Windchill 10.1 M010 includes the following enhancements to the Windchill-FORAN Gateway integration:
- Simultaneous publishing of sister ship data—Sister ship BOMs can now be managed entirely within Windchill, with a distinct FORAN project (construction number) for each ship. Publishing occurs within the confines of the relevant configuration, and information from multiple FORAN projects can be sent to multiple versions. Windchill Access Control rules control FORAN users; large assembly visualization and commands integrated into FORAN modules are also included, as well as management of FORAN documents.
- Publish BOM data as view versions—All FORAN projects can now be mapped to Windchill View, and users can track BOM data across product life cycles.
- Manage sister ship data—Windchill 10.1 M010 now offers the ability to manage sister ship data based on Windchill version effectivity or on View Versions using multiple FORAN projects.
There are two configuration specification types, Latest and Serial Number Effectivity (Windchill version-based effectivity). Selecting Latest publishes and updates the latest available version on Windchill. Selecting Serial Number Effectivity publishes and updates a version with a specific effectivity. The user can publish information in line with Windchill View Versions, like design or manufacturing. PTC recommends that you publish information from multiple FORAN projects and not from a single project, since the FORAN Architecture does not allow history to be managed; all information present is the latest. A user would typically manage design information in one project and manufacturing or conceptual information in another project of FORAN.
