Benefits and Description
The “Save to Workspace” action and associated behavior has been redefined in Windchill 10.1:
It is now only for importing data from the file system.
- It will no longer work as “Save and Upload” for data already in workspace (the action is disabled if active document in CAD session is already in workspace).
- No “Save to Workspace” dialogue will be presented to the user when the action is selected (the command will import the active file in CAD session, from the file system to the active workspace, along with its references, without additional user interaction.
- Open from file system will no longer automatically copy to the workspace directory on open.
- Saving of CAD docs retrieved from the files system will save back to the file system – not workspace.
This allows customers to work with data on the file system without having to disconnect from the Workgroup Manager (save back to file system), it streamlines user interaction (no UI requiring user interaction), and also more clearly defines what Save to Workspace should be used for (importing files from the file system).
